Independence was my baby kitty. When I brought Indy home last year as a very late mother's day gift for my mom I didn't consider myself a "cat person." As far as I was concerned the cat had two jobs: cuddle with my mom and keep our property rodent free. He excelled at both and even managed to win my heart in the process.

He was an orange and cream tabby cat with the coolest markings, he was seriously a mutt cat marked like an Egyptian Mau. He even had a heart on top of his head.

The whole family was immediately smitten, even though he'd cuddle one moment and try to kill you the next lol.

Since he was an outside cat we all knew he'd most likely have an untimely demise, but none of us could have imagined it would come after only a year of being in our lives.

All because some asshole can't read speed limit signs. You don't hit a bright orange cat, that cautiously crosses the street, right in broad daylight going 25mph. And it was someone who lives in the neighborhood because we don't exactly get a lot of through traffic on our little suburban road.

And to make it worse they didn't even stop. Everyone in the neighborhood knows Indy and where he lives and the moster that hit him didn't even attempt to find us. They just left him there lying in the street.

I am completley heartbroken and devastated that my Indy kitty is dead, and I can only hope his killer gets run down by traffic as well.



My sweet Indy, we miss you dearly.
